Summer is here! Now is the time to get outdoors and enjoy the weather. As a dog owner we know it’s important to include your dog in as many activities as you can. There are so many fun and safe summer activities to choose from for both you and your canine companion. Here are some ideas of activities to kick off your summer and enjoy with your dog.

Splash Zone

If your dog loves water you should definitely give this a go! It’s a great way to entertain your dog but keep them cool on a hot summers day. Grab a sprinkler or hose, set it up and get your pup playing fetch through it. It’s also provides lots of fun for all the family!

Treasure Hunt

Why not explore the outdoors with Geocaching, a high-tech treasure hunting GPS. Taking your dog along adds a whole new level of fun. Geocaching involves searching for and finding buried treasures. This fun activity allows you and your dog to get out and surround yourself with nature. You can even design your own dog-oriented geocaching by burying some of your dogs favourite toys or treats and let their nose do the work.

Create a Frozen Treat

These aren’t just for humans. Dogs love a frozen treat as much as we do especially when it’s hot outside. All you need to do is grab your dogs favourite food and an ice cube tray or a treat toy like a KONG. Why not try burger so your dog can join in with all those summer bbq’s.

Try a Class

Check out any dog friendly classes in your local area. Training, doggie yoga or even just fun events to keep your dog socialising over summer. They’re a great way for you and your pooch to bond and learn something new.

Hit the Beach

The beach is a classic place to go in summer, but imagine how nice it would be with your dog trotting alongside you! Spend the day soaking up the sun, playing games and of course a little dip in the sea. Make sure you check the beach is dog-friendly before you go and don’t forget to take water and a form of shade to keep your dog safe.

This is only a small handful of things you can do! There are so many fun activities out there for you and your dog to do this summer. Why not try a doggie picnic or a drive-through cinema..the list is endless. Please share your ideas with us, we’d love to see the activities you and your pooch get up to.
